Aboard Motoryacht Eastern Star
Chelsea Piers, New York
The choice to get married on a boat was easy; both Janine and Neil love the water. The choice to get married on the Motoryacht Eastern Star was even easier. After having been aboard this beautiful, classic yacht for a business event, Janine fell in love with its ambiance, the staff and the cuisine. It was the perfect setting for an intimate wedding in Manhattan. Captain Nick, who owns the yacht with his wife, Laurie, officiated the ceremony, which added to the personal feel of the evening.
Janine, an advertising manager and wedding invitation designer, and Neil, an oil company executive, met on match.com and knew immediately that they were meant for each other. Coming from similar family backgrounds (combined, they have 15 siblings!) made them feel they had known each other for years from the start.
Neil proposed and year and a half after they met and they married 9 months later. Janine designed the letterpress invitations, which introduced the rich orange and brown fall palette. The color scheme was pulled through the whole event. The addition of gold and deep red in the table settings, silk lanterns and sheer organza decorations on the yacht added texture and warmth. The ring pillow and wedding cake were custom made to coordinate with the design of the invitation. Enjoy a look at this wonderful early Fall event!
